YOUR TEACHER
JUDITH DOKMANOVIC
"A gentle, graceful and supportive teacher"
YOGA JUDE
I'm Judith Dokmanovic, and I'm passionate about yoga. It brings not only strength and suppleness to the body but also a sense of spiritual and physical well-being to those that practice it. Flexibility in the body promotes mental flexibility, and this brings a sense of ease to life. And when you approach life from an easier state, you can more readily deal with its inevitable challenges.
I'm 61 and have been practicing and benefiting from yoga for more than fifteen years, absorbing it through many different teaching styles. My desire is to maintain yoga's true authenticity and to show that everyone can do it and every body can benefit from it; that yoga is not just for people who sit in lotus all day and sip yogic tea.
HOW I TEACH
My teaching style is gentle, calm, supportive and down-to-earth. I create a welcoming space, accessible to all, and cover all the common yoga styles. And I have a deep specialization in Yoga Nidra (or yogic meditation) and mindfulness. My classes will leave you feeling relaxed and invigorated and with tools to use beyond the mat so you can create mini-yoga experiences in your day-to-day life.
â
I teach regular group classes at Yoga Ananda in Reigate, Surrey and one-to-one classes in Harley Street, London.
â
I am a fully qualified yoga teacher (certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals) and fully insured for the work I do.
YOGA STYLES
MIX & MATCH. PICK & MIX. HAVE IT YOUR WAY
From a regular Hatha to a blissful Nidra, from the mat to the chair. Choose the styles that suit you best and have them weaved together in a class that's perfect for you.
VINYASA FLOW
Often described as a moving meditation, each movement is synchronized to a breath with inhales and exhales anchoring one physical posture (or asana) to the next in a rhythmic mindful flow. This helps cleanse and recharge the body and focus the mind. You will move at a steady pace, using all your major muscle groups, to build flexibility, strength and concentration.
YIN YOGA
Yin invites you to slow down with its gentle pace and long delicious holding of passive poses which creates space for stillness and gets deep into the body to soften and ease muscle tension. Practised sitting or lying on the floor, there are no planks, warrior poses, headstands or sun salutations: this is a quiet, simple yoga with a focus on breath, mindfulness and letting go. It's the perfect complement to more vigorous exercises like running or gym work and to the more dynamic styles of yoga.
HATHA YOGA
Hatha is the most common form of yoga practiced. Gentle movement, postures (asanas) and stretches are used in combination with the breath to develop flexibility and proper alignment of the body and bring balance, strength, and calmness to the practitioner. Classes are based on the classic and ancient practices with attention to alignment and the deeper layers of yoga.
RESTORATIVE
Dissolve physical and mental tension with this deeply healing yoga. You will learn where you hold tension and how to consciously release it through supported poses (bolsters, blocks and blankets), controlled breathing and gentle movement. A handful of restorative poses are held for a few minutes each and typically include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends.
YOGA NIDRA
Lie down, put on an eye pillow and bliss out in this immensely powerful yogic meditation. Using guided visualisations you will be led on an inward journey to the deepest possible state of relaxation and peace. Practiced lying down (with blankets) - and often with gentle lighting, relaxing background music and incense - this nurturing and immersive class will leave you with a deep-down sense of calm and wellbeing.
MINDFUL YOGA
Simple yoga postures and movements are threaded through with a mindful awareness of your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings. Focussing through a gentle nurturing lens on what you are sensing in the present moment will leave you feeling calm and nourished. The mindfulness skills you develop can be transferred from the mat to everyday life.
CHAIR YOGA
In this gentle form of yoga the chair replaces the mat to provide safety and support. It's especially suitable for older adults and those with balance, flexibility or co-ordination issues or for those recovering from injury. Chair Yoga uses classic yoga postures, stretches, breath-work and relaxation exercises to build strength, stability and mental well-being.
